Baby Liedel 2010...

So there is some BIG news to share since my last post. It's official. Luke and I are going to be parents! Hence the new gadget on the right side of the screen...only 194 more days to go. That's all? Well good news is time has already gone by pretty quickly. I have been told that won't continue to be the case, but I am still optimistic.

I imagine inquiring minds want to know...

When did we find out?
Monday, May 4th I decided it might be a good idea to 'check' and see...sure enough, the 'check' came back positive. Then I 'checked' again, and same result.

My initial thought?
Wow, it really happened! OMG! I wasn't sure it would and it did. And it didn't take long! Apparently we work well together. So many emotions to capture. Lots and lots of thinking...

How did I tell Luke?
Well this was kind of fun. I made a nice dinner, had a few glasses of wine. No, I was not drinking, I had Fre the alcohol free stuff and he had the good stuff! But he didn't know any better...so we had some wine, then we sat down to dinner and I gave him a card. It said - 'Congratulations on your new little one...' and inside I wrote, arriving on or around 12/28/2009. (at the time that was what I thought my due date would be). Since then we learned it's 1/10/10. He was stunned.
His words were not the most romantic by any means ' You're shitting me?' to which I said 'no. I am not shitting you.' Then an immediate hug that lasted what seemed like forever followed...

How and when did we tell our families?
This was not so easy. We kept it a secret for weeks b/c I have always said I wanted to wait until close to the end of my first trimester before spilling the beans. Just too much risk otherwise. So we waited and then went to our first Dr. Appt on 6/12. All checked out good. We got to see the baby and hear the heartbeat. That's when they told us the due date was January 10th, 2010. Kind of a neat date... So after we went to the Dr. I felt it was safe to start spreading the news.

We told Luke's family first b/c we would be going on vacation with my entire family the next week and I thought what better time than then to tell them? All together in one spot? So we called Luke's brother in NY and told he and his wife. Then we told his sister Lori. Luke told her in person at her hair salon. Then we told Jess and Paul by showing them the ultrasound pic. That was fun. We had Anderson (their 2 year old) hand her the picture...she looked at it, pondered it then it clicked. They were thrilled! Then we told Luke's parents on Father's day. We took the picture we had made and put it in Larry's card. They were both very happy as well. The same weekend we told his other brother and his wife as well. Shocked is a good description...which we knew ahead of time.

Then it came to telling my family. We went to N.C. for a family vacation. The first day there I gave my dad his father's day card with the picture we had made in it. He was very happy and congratulatory. Then mom saw it. She too was quite surprised to say the least. Then the rest of the house heard the news. Rachel wanted to know whose picture it was. I told her mine and she was stunned. But everyone was all hugs. It was great. So finally the news was out!

And here we are. 194 more days to go...not that we're counting! Lots to do that is for sure. But we are very excited to get started. Overall I have been feeling really well. The past week or so, I have had some bouts with nausea and sickness but prior to that nothing. And it's not all the time, only on occasion. We go back to the Dr. 7/2 for our next appt. I am anxious to make sure everything still looks good.

So definitely more to come! I think I'll even dare to do the belly pics. We'll see...

For now, Littelest Baby Liedel and I are signing off. Have a wonderful 4th of July!!
